Abstract

256,493. Williams, T. H. Feb. 12, 1926. Sockets.-A friction griping device for substantially round articles comprises a coiled spring 1 with a lug or lugs accommodated in a recess and in a stock attached to a handle whereby turning in one direction tightens the spring grip on the article. The spring may be retained in a casing 3 by a flange or a screwthreaded collar. Two intercoiled springs may be used in one casing or an upper and lower casing- may each have one coil coiled in opposite directions.
