Abstract

1434. Jones, W. H. Jan. 29, 1913, [Convention date]. Clamps, eccentric.-A clutch or fastener for gripping a rope comprises a loop 18 and a gripping-piece 19 pivoted to the same base. The loop 18 being longer than the piece 19, the jaws separate when moved upwardly, and close to grip the rope when in the position shown. Lugs 21 on the piece 19 cause the jaws to move in unison. The rope clutch is specially suitable for use in connexion with a mail-bag ring employed in transferring-apparatus. As shown in Fig. 1, the bail 6 is pivoted at one end to the base-bar 5, and its free end is secured by a spring latch 8. The rope 15 is secured by the screw plug 16 in the cone 17, which engages in a tapered recess in the pivoted socket piece 13. The rope clutch is mounted at the opposite end of the base-bar.
