Abstract
525,355. Shafts for trolleys. SCOFFIN & WILLMOTT, Ltd., and LEWIN, P. W. Feb. 18, 1939, No. 5516. [Class 108 (ii)] A truck, trolley or the like has a quickly releasable handle having at the end a plug or spigot element 6 of a bayonet joint co-acting with a corresponding socket mounted on a part 7 pivoted to the truck. A cross bar 7 with pivoted ends 8 has a central double keyhole slot 11 and carries a metal plate 12 with a similar slot, so that when the end of the handle is inserted therein and is rotated, pins 6 on the handle engage grooves 13 perpendicular to the slot in the plate 12. A spring 4 is placed between a shoulder on the slot and a washer 5 on the bar 7. An extension 2 of the handle enters an aperture in a cross plate 14 spaced from and mounted in the plate 12. In a modification, the bottom of the handle spigot has a fast screwthread and the ball of a ball catch or the like, and the bar 7 on the truck has a screw-threaded socket having a notch into which the ball slips.
