Abstract
1457636 Driving arrangements for dynamoelectric machines J THOMAS 21 April 1975 [19 April 1974] 17166/74 Heading H2A [Also in Division B7] A vehicle 1 includes an energy recovery system comprising an electric generator 6 and a generator drive arrangement in the form of two relatively movable parts 4, 5, one of which 5 is attached to one portion of the vehicle and the other of which 4 is attached to another portion of the vehicle so as to be reciprocable linearly during movement of the other portion relative to the one portion, whilst the vehicle is in motion. The generator produces power while the vehicle is cornering or travelling over rough ground. The generator drive arrangement may form the suspension system of the vehicle. The rod 4 of the drive arrangement shown is fixed to the vehicle chassis and drives a gear transmission unit 5 fixed to the vehicle body. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the rod 4 carries the piston of a hydraulic pump, the pump cylinder being fixed to the car body. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the rod 4 carries a magnet movable inside a coil mounted on the vehicle body.
