Abstract
145,725. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Jan. 22, 1919. [Convention date]. Sights. - Relates to trunnion sights for guns having an independent line of sight, in which the sight is associated with a member which may be set at an angle to the sight line equal to the angle of tangent elevation, thereby displacing the pointer of an indicator, the readjustment of which is effected by elevating the gun barrel. The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts described. The sight D<1> is mounted on a sleeve D rotatable, by worm-gearing E, on a sleeve b<2>, which is fixed at C to the gun carriage B and encloses an extension A<1> of the gun trunnion A. Inside, the sleeve D is a sleeve F connected by a pin f<2> to an external sleeve F<1> rotatable by worm-gearing G and carrying a pointer f<6> adapted to register with a mark h<2> on an arm H<1>, which is mounted on a sleeve H and has a lug h<3> engaging a notch a<4> in the gun trunnion A. The sight is first layed on the target by operating the gear E; the compound sleeve F, F<1> carrying the pointer f<6> is then turned by the gear G to set it, as indicated on a scale f<5> by a mark d<4>, to the angle of tangent elevation; and this is then imparted to the gun barrel by operating the elevating-gear until the mark h<2> registers with the pointer f<6>. The apparatus may readily be detached from the gun carriage B after the removal of a nut a<2> and the pin C.
