Abstract

1396418 Resistance heating elements FRITZ EICHENAUER 2 Aug 1972 [4 Sept 1971] 36153/72 Heading H5H A hair dryer comprises a radial-flow fan 3 surrounded by at least one annular heating element 7, the heating element comprising a thin resistance wire wound about a core, the wire wound core 7 being arranged between a pair of insulating plates 11, 12 and being supported from one of them by supporting straps 15. As shown, a second heating element 18 concentrically surrounds element 7. Each supporting core comprises a steel wire insulated by spun glass filaments. Each supporting strap 15 is formed as a spring clip with parallel limbs 16, 17. An overtemperature switch 22 is mounted on plate 11 and also connecting contacts 19, 20, 21. A resistance section 24 connected to conducting support strap 25 and mounted on plate 11 is provided as a tapping for fan motor 2. Heated air is deflected by a curtain 9 into the axial direction indicated by arrows 8 and passes through apertures in hood 10.
