Abstract
1395570 Heated rolls MASCHINENFABKIK RIETER AG 5 Oct 1972 [5 Oct 1971] 45882/72 Heading H5H [Also in Division F2] A roll 1, which is heated by a stationary induction coil 5, 6, 7, 8 has its surface temperature monitored by a sensor 11, a temperature compensating element 12 being positioned between the sensor and the inductor to prevent false readings due to the cooler mass of the inductor. The element may be a stainless steel short-circuit ring extending between insulator 13, 14 mounted against the flanges 7, 8 of the core piece 6 or an electric resistance heating element, Fig. 3. To restrict centrifugal air flow P annular insulators 18 and shortcircuit rings 19 may be included (Fig. 1). In an alternative embodiment the inductor is surrounded by a sheath of glass filament insulation and a short-circuit ring extending between the air flow restrictors only is used.
