Abstract

951,947. Electric heating apparatus. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Sept. 9, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 31147/60. Heading H5H. In an electric heating apparatus comprising a heating element in the form of a helically wound heating wire, which element is supported in cavities of a plurality of insulating supports arranged on a metal frame, each support has at least two slots engaging the frame, the supports being held in position by the resilient force of the heating element. In Figs. 2 and 3 the supports 6 are ceramic cylinders each having two slots 8 and 9 which engage cranked parts of rods forming a metal frame with side-pieces 1 and 2 in which are secured insulators 12. The helically wound heating-wire 10 engages slots 7 in the supports 6 and urges them in the direction of the arrows 11. In Fig. 5 the metal frame is formed by a disc 20 and ring 21 connected by rods 22 and engaging a slot 25 and a deeper slot 26 in ceramic supports 23 provided with slots 24 for a circular or spiral heating element. Bent-over tags 27<SP>1</SP> and 28 hold the supports 23 upright and prevent lateral displacement thereof. A fan 29 blows air over the heating element. A modified support (Fig. 6, not shown) has four grooves in its sides for engagement in slots in the metal frame.
