Abstract
1,261,398. Transformers and inductors. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 9 April, 1969 [29 April, 1968], No. 18134/69. Heading H1T. A insulating spacer 43 (Fig. 1) for spacing disc coils comprises an insulating sheet member provided on at least one side with a plurality of projections the extremities of the crosssection of each of which define the corners of a triangle. In use, the projections of a spacer contact the side of an associated disc coil so forming ducts for cooling fluid. A variety of shapes for the projections are described (Figs. 4-7, not shown) as well as the disposition of the projections (Fig. 2, not shown). The projections may be glued on to the insulating sheet member or on to interfitting scalloped strips glued to that member. Alternatively, they may be formed integrally with the sheet member, e.g. by die-pressing.
