Abstract

138,853. Auto Betterment Corporation, (Assignees of Hartwell, A. E.). Feb. 12, 1919, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-The throttle 3 of a carburettor is connected with means for regulating automatically the air supply in accordance w i t h both the throttle position and the engine speed. The regulating means comprise an unbalanced butterfly valve 11 working in conjunction with a fixed ledge 15. The valves 3, 11 are provided respectively with adjustable arms 16, 18 carrying swivelled lugs 20, 21. A link 22 is screwed into the lug 20 and passes movably through a bushing 24 in the lug 21. The link 22 is provided with an adjustable nut 26 between which and the bushing 24 is arranged a spring 25. The position of the valve 11 depends therefore both upon the throttle position and upon the suction in the carburettor. A fuel tube 6 extends across the air passage and is provided with narrow fuel slits 7. According to the Specification as open to in. spection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the fuel tube 6 may be provided with one fuel slit only. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
