Abstract

Spray carburettors.-The opening of the throttle valve of a carburettor used on an aeroplane is limited by a barometric device so that the opening cepends on the atmospheric conditions. In one arrangement a bellows expanding under reduced atmospheric pressure moves a stop in the path of the throttle lever. In a modification, the bellows 56, Fig. 2, adjusts the bell-crank 75 which carries the pivot 80 of the throttle lever 79. This lever acts on the valve through a pin-and-slot mechanism; stops are provided to limit the movement of the crank 75, throttle lever and the valve. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a throttle control in which the bellows 99, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), is contained in a sealed chamber 97 connected by a pipe 98 to the intake manifold. A rod 104 is screwed to the end of the bellows, and its movement is limited by the adjustable screw 106. Two sleeves 114, 116 with an interposed spring 118 are carried on the rod 104, the sleeves being connected by crank-shafts and links to the throttle valve 92 and control lever respectively. This mounting of the bellows prevents excessive opening of the throttle valve at low speeds. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
