Safety-valves.-A safety-valve, of the kind provided with an actuating-piston slidably mounted on the valve spindle and arranged so that it is withdrawn from its cylinder when the valve is closed, has the piston 4 fitted with a guard member 8 adapted to close one end of the cylinder when the valve is closed to serve as a dirt-shield, and also as a stop-plate to limit the withdrawal of the piston. The guard is supported by webs 6, which also guide the piston. Specification 136,615 is referred to.
