Abstract

Casings; dashpots, applications of.-A valve for compressors and the like which comprises an annular valve D with a stop plate and guide ring K is provided with a co-extensive annular fluidcushioning chamber to cushion the valve both on opening and closing. A small clearance between the sides J of the valve D and the guide ring K permits leakage of the cushioning fluid as the valve rises or falls. Springs may be used to close the valve. An adjustable apertured plug b cooperating with an apertured disc a, Fig. 9, varies the leakage. Non-return valves may be fitted in the guide ring K to give a strong cushioning in one direction or the other. The valve ports are formed with rounded contours converging to a throat at the valve. Adjustment of the valve lift is obtained by means of washers P between the guide rink K and the seat member.
