Leakage, preventing. - A valve operating arrangement with a flexible seal element comprises a valve stem 8, Fig. 1, projecting into a closed chamber 9 and adapted to be operated by a lever 11 which passes through a flexible chamber 10, or a diaphragm 22, Fig. 6, is pivoted on the outer side and is operated, for example, by an electromagnet. The flexible chamber is secured to a disc 17, or formed with a flange, clamped between the cover 14 and the casing 9. The cover 14, Fig. 1, carries a pair of elements 15 projecting within the flexible chamber and having slots 16 to receive the pivot pins 12 of the lever. When a diaphragm is used the pivot is on the outer side of the diaphragm as shown in Fig. 6, and the diaphragm is held against the pivot by pressure of fluid in the chamber 9.
