Abstract
1359539 Resistance heater PYROTENAX Ltd 17 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 48367/71 Heading H5H [Also in Division B3] A (twin conductor) mineral insulated sheathed cable 11, 31, Figs. 1 and 3 respectively, acts as a male thread when secured in either the core 1, 21 or sleeve 8, 28 or a heated roll having momting holes 3, Fig. 1, or an injection nozzle, Fig. 3, the sleeve and the core being screwed together so that there is good thermal contact between the cable and the core and/or the sleeve. The core and/or the sleeve are made of high thermal conductive material, e.g. mild steel. The cable is welded in the groove adjacent its ends to effect the securing and has a sealed termination 12, 32 at one end and a sealing pot 13, 33 at the other. Alternatively a double groove may be formed and a looped cable used to form a double thread. Two cables of different sizes may also be used to provide two elements. By selecting suitable conductive materials for sleeve and core the radial directions of heat flow may be adjusted. The cable sheath may be stainless steel.
