Abstract

1,122,260. Sheathed resistance heaters. MOORWOOD-VULCAN Ltd. 16 July, 1966, No. 32080/66. Heading H5H. Each end of a metal sheathed heating element is sealed by a ceramic plug 14 with metal ferrules 13, 15, secured thereto, one ferrule 13 being secured to the metal tube 10 and the other ferrule 15 being secured to the terminal conductor 12 at part 18, and the ceramic element 14 has a circumferential flange 19 against which the ferrules 13, 15 butt. Flange 19 increases the electrical leakage path and helps to prevent leakage or tracking of current along the surface of element 14. Apart from flange 19, the heating element is constructed as in Specification 726,504. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 726,504.
