Abstract
133,948. Ahond, F., and Rosenthal, A. Oct. 14, 1018, [Convention date]. Variable-speedepicyclic gearing comprises double planet elements d<1>, d<2> carried by a driving shaft . and engaging a fixed internal member D<1> and a driven internal member D<2>. The speed is varied and reversed by altering the effective diameters of any of the four gear elements. In the arrangement the element d<2> is conical and the element D<2> is axially movable. The element D' may be formed as a pneumatic tyre expansible inwards, or may be formed in segments movable radially by screws. Toothed gearing may be used instead of friction gearing in the pair having invariable ratio. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an arrangement with a stepped toothed planet element meshing with a set of internally-toothed rings, which may be held against rotation alternatively. It alsoo comprises an arrangement by which a clutch re. places the gearing for direct driving. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
