Abstract

129,446. Fedden, A. H. R., Butler, L. F. G., and Cosmos Engineering Co., (formerly Brazil, Straker, & Co.). July 11, 1918. Toothed gearing.-An epicyclic or other gear, applicable to electric starting-motors for engines in which the engine overruns the gear during the first explosion, comprises a worm or skew planet or stationary wheel C, having its axis of rotation inclined to the axes of a worm or skew sun-wheel A and an annular wheel B which has ordinary teeth. The reaction between the wheels produces an axial, as well as a circumferential, pressure, and the angle between the axes of the planet and sun wheels is half the angle between the teeth and axis of the sun-wheel.
