Abstract

1329204 Inking apparatus TIMSONS Ltd 19 Jan 1972 [17 Feb 1971] 4796/71 Heading B6C [Also in Division F2] An ink-distributing roller 1 in a rotary printing machine is axially reciprocated while rotated by a coaxial sleeve 3 rotating at a different speed about a shaft la fixed to the roller, the shaft having an abutment 8 (e.g. with a roller 9) moving along a cam track 7 formed by parts 5, 6, secured within the sleeve. The sleeve 3 and roller 1 may be driven via gears 14...17 from a common shaft 18 at reductions of 43 : 25 and 41 : 27 respectively. In a machine having more than one roller, these may be reciprocated at different speeds or in any phase relation.
