Abstract

1,164,984. Screen printing. P. ZIMMER. 12 Feb., 1968 [13 Feb., 1967], No. 6753/68. Heading B6C. A screen holder for an end of a rotary screen in a screen printing machine comprises two slides 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, respectively adjustable on upwards diverging guideway 19, 19<SP>1</SP> and carrying elements, such as rollers 5 or tensioning devices, which must be moved when the cylindrical screen driven by gear-wheel 8 is exchanged for one of different diameter. Threaded shafts 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and universal joints 3 move the slides 4, 4<SP>1</SP> synchronously by meshing with threaded nuts in them and transmitting rotation from either hand wheel 1 or motor 15. Movement of the diode 4<SP>1</SP> may operate motor-stopping switch 15<SP>1</SP> by bridging it against a projection 16 when the slides have moved a distance appropriate to a change from one of a set of screen diameters to the next one. Several screen holders may be adjusted together, in which case the motors 15 are synchronous motors run in synchronism with a common master. In use the screen rests on blanket 17, or on material to be printed transported by it, and may be rotated by it. The gearwheels 8 on opposite ends of the screen may be connected by a shaft and gears.
