Abstract
928,381. Feeding webs. F. J. LITTELL MACHINE CO. Dec. 12, 1961 [Aug. 28, 1961], No. 44407/61. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] Intermittent web feeding apparatus comprises a rack 38 which drives a pair of feed rolls 27, 28 through a ratchet or over-running type of clutch as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,756,994, an oscillatable member 35 for reciprocating the rack, a main drive-shaft 26 adapted to rotate constantly during operation, a crank arm structure 68 fixed to and rotated by the shaft 26, a driving yoke 70, Fig. 5, pivoted to the crank 68 providing a pair of spaced arms located on and having sliding contact with the adjacent outside surfaces of the oscillatable member 35. The oscillatable member 35 is eccentrically pivoted at 36, and the eccentricity can be varied by a hand wheel 80 which affords microscopic adjustment of the amplitude of the rack 38 and the longitudinal register of the web 31. The rack 38 is pivoted to a base 58, Fig. 5, slidably adjustable in a longitudinal, dovetail-shaped, internal groove in the oscillatable member 35. A threaded rod 52, rotatable through bevel gears 54, 55 and a square stud 56 affords adjustment of the base 58, which is locked in the adjusted position by a nut 62.
