Abstract

882,960. Inking-apparatus. DE LA RUE & CO. Ltd., THOMAS. Feb. 1, 1960 [July 31, 1959], No. 26439/59. Class 100(2) An inking mechanism for a printing machine comprises a transfer roller adapted intermittently to coact with a printing plate and to be frictionally driven by an ink distribution roller across the periphery of which said transfer roller oscillates in an arcuate manner and in continuous contact therewith. The distribution roller 10 on a shaft 12 is driven by gears 5, 14, 13 at the same peripheral speed as the plate cylinder I. The transfer roller 11 is mounted on a shaft 16 held in a split bearing 38 on a carriage 37 slidable on a member 35 pivoted on the shaft 12. The position of the carriage is adjustable by a handle 41. The roller 11 is oscillated about the shaft 12 by toggle mechanism 25, 26, 28 actuated by a link 24 under control of a cam 6 on the gear 5 and a spring 23. The pressure of the roller 11 on the cylinder 1 is adjusted by an eccentric spindle 29.
