Abstract

1434593 Ribbon-inked printing machines K REINER [trading as ERNST REINER KG.] 26 March 1973 [25 March 1972] 14486/73 Heading B6C In a rotary relief printing machine in which an inked block 3 on a printing cylinder 2 prints an impression on paper moving through the nip between the cylinder 2 and the impression cylinder 7 in a guided path Pf1 the block 3 is inked by an intermittently fed inking ribbon 8 moving from a feed spool 9 to a takeup spool 15 through the action of a motor driven mechanism 16, 17 incorporating a slip clutch. The ribbon is pressed against the block 3 and moved with it only during periods of contact and the ribbon carrying roller 13 is moved against the block by a suitably driven spring urged lever arrangement 20. The ribbon has a reciprocal movement such that during inking it moves forward a distance of x whilst during a non-inking period it moves backward through a distance <SP>4</SP>/ 5 x. In a modification the ribbon passes through a re-inking arrangement.
