Abstract

1,024,211. Inking-apparatus. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE ET FINANCIERE DE PARTICIPATION ET DE GESTION-SOFIPAG. Dec. 5, 1962 [Dec. 5, 1961], No. 45941/62. Heading B6C. A printing machine suitable for printing on box blanks comprises a printing cylinder 1, a fountain roller 8, a longitudinally reciprocating roller 2, a messenger roller 9, means for rotating the fountain roller 8 at a constant speed, and means for operating the machine automatically with a time cycle corresponding to a determined rotation of the cylinder 1, the roller 9 being placed in contact with the roller 8 during said cycle for an adjustable time and then being placed in contact with the roller 2 for the rest of the cycle. The inking train also includes forme inking rollers 5 and 6, a second longitudinally reciprocating roller 4, and a transfer roller 3. The roller 9 rotates in a movable support 10 which is articulated at 11 and operated by a pneumatic piston and cylinder device 12. After each revolution of the cylinder 1 a device 13 sends an electric pulse through a line 14 to a counter 15 which after a determined number of pulses sends a signal to the device 12 causing the roller 9 to contact the roller 8 and energizes a timing device 16. After a given time the device 16 sends another signal to the device 12 to bring the roller 9 into contact with the roller 2. The device 16 may operate by counting constant frequency pulses in a line 17. The roller 8 may be rotated at a constant speed by an independent motor, not shown, and the speed of its rotation may be adjusted while the machine is not being operated. The electric control system may be replaced by the mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic equivalent.
