Abstract

1,254,689. Document transport systems. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 15 June, 1970 [30 June, 1969], No. 28782/70. Heading G4M. Change-over between continuous and incremental document feed is effected at a time when both feed devices are able to drive the document at the same speed. A continuous feed wheel 38, Fig. 1, is driven from shaft 20 by gears 24, 39 and an incremental feed wheel 35 is driven by shaft 20 via a geneva mechanism 26, 36. One or other drive is selected by actuating the appropriate pressure roller 41, 42 by energizing the associated solenoid 47, 48. An emitter 69, Fig. 4, produces a pulse for each revolution of shaft 20 at a time when geneva wheel 36 is rotating at the same speed as wheel 38. In the presence of an increment or eject command pulse 72, 70, the emitter pulse sets the corresponding drive latch 61, 63 and resets the other.
