1319577 Reciprocating pumps; compressed air motors C F TAYLOR (ZWICKY) Ltd 8 July 1970 [8 July 1969] 34410/69 Heading F1A F1S An air motor-operated, two-stage pump comprises a first stage pump piston 3 and a second stage pump piston 4 on a piston rod 16 carrying air motor pistons 1 and 2. Air-pressure is continuously supplied to motor piston 2 via connection B, and piston 1 is alternately connected to pressure and exhaust by spool valve 6, 7 via connections F and G, the valve being reversed by abutments 14 and 15 on the piston 1 acting through toggle linkage 8, 11, 12. On the rightward stroke, pump piston 3 draws liquid from connection D via inlet valve 20, and pump piston 4 delivers liquid from cylinder 21 to connection E via outlet valve 22. On the leftward stroke, piston 3 delivers liquid from cylinder 19 through the piston rod interior via valve 24 to cylinder 21 and, if the load permits, through valve 22 and connection E. If the load pressure is above a predetermined limit, relief valve 23 opens to by-pass the excess liquid from cylinder 19 to the inlet. Valve 23 is loaded by the air motor supply pressure acting in bellows 25 via connection C.
