Abstract

A cylinder block (2) has a cylinder containing a piston (6) working on the two stroke cycle. The piston rod (10) extends into a lower cylinder (14) and carries a piston (13) working within the cylinder. The lower cylinder has a non-return outlet (16) and a throttling inlet (17) connected to hydraulic piping. The hydraulic circuit has a motor driven pump (23), a low pressure accumulator (24), a hydraulic motor (20), a high pressure accumulator (19) and a low and high pressure relief valves (26, 22) as well as solenoid operated control valves (1, 2, 3, 4). A fluid chiller (25) and flow limiter (A2) separate the low and high pressure sides. The use of the engine to compress fluid for a hydraulic power system increases the power production.
