Abstract
960,582. Reciprocating pumps. POWER JACKS Ltd. July 1, 1960 [July 10, 1959], No. 23715/59. Heading F1A. A manually operated reciprocating hydraulic pump comprises a piston rod 19 carrying a piston 18 and a dependant bucket piston 20, chambers A, B and C forming the displacement chambers of a double-acting pump and that of a single-acting pump respectively with non-return inlet and outlet valves for each chamber, and a rod valve 31 serving in the position shown to isolate the chambers A and B, C, for delivery of their respective capacities against low pressure, and to open under pressure, a connecting passage 28 between the chambers A and B, for actuation against high pressure, such that delivery then comprises the volume A minus B on the upward stroke and C plus B minus A on the downward stroke of the pump. In a modification Fig. 8, (not shown), a manually operated valve can by-pass valve 24, to render the single-acting pump inoperative and cause the double-acting pump to become a medium pressure unit. In a further modification Fig. 9, (not shown), a manually operated valve 46 replaces the rod valve 31.
