In the form shown, the crank-Shaft A of an internal-combustion engine carries a fly-wbeel E forming the internal driving element of a double-acting clutch, and the external driving element C of the clutch is attached to a sleeve C<1> loose on the shaft A and driven in a reverse direction from the cam-shaft B by the wheels J. K.. The cam-shaft is driven from the crank-shaft bv a chain. To obtain the forward or reverse drive, the clutch member D on the driven shaft F is moved axially into contact with the member E or the member C. When the gearing is not applied to an internal-combustion engine, the cam-shaft B is replaced by a countershaft similarly driven from the main shaft.
