Abstract

1317803 Specimen vessel with data-carrying cap SIEMENS AG 30 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 37014/70 Heading B1X [Also in Division B8] A specimen vessel has a closure cap formed with a sealing rim portion 2 which fits against an inner wall portion of the vessel, and with a further portion 1 extending to project externally of the vessel when the cap is on the vessel, portion 1 bearing machine readable coded specimen data 3 in punched hole form. The cap may also have as optional features a surface portion 4 or 11 for application of non-coded data, an annular slip-resistant rim surface (friction ring) 6 or 10 to facilitate rotation of the cap, a central region 5 of reduced thickness for insertion of a cannula, and a recess 12 (Fig. 2) to facilitate stacking of one vessel on another. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the coded data bearing portion of the cap has a polygonal cross section part 7 which fits over the outside of the vessel, part 7 having layer 9 of deformable material on its inner surface. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), the cap has an upwardly extending cylindrical portion which carries the coded data.
