Abstract

129,640. Chandler, M. G. Dec. 4, 1916, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus.-In a spray carburettor, a substantially constant suction greater than that existing in the engine manifold is produced in the space above the fuel in the float chamber in order to raise the fuel into such chamber from a low level tank. A Venturi air passage 4 into which the nozzle 6 discharges, has its outlet at the throat 1<1> of a larger Venturi passage formed by the casing 1. A passage 8 connects the top of the float chamber 7 with the smaller Venturi passage at a point of larger diameter than that at which the nozzle outlet is situated. The substantially constant suction is ensured by the provision of a suction-actuated additional-air valve 11 attached to a piston 12 of larger area.
