Valves; valve-gear. - Relates to valvegear for four-strokecycle engines in which a valve is moved against a spring by means of a double-loop cam b, a cam-follower i, and a member c between the follower i and the valve-rod, the member c being free to turn about the axis of the valve-rod when the follower i moves from one of the two cam-grooves b', b<2> to the other. One cam b controls both inlet and exhaust by means of a spring-pressed piston valve d; the two parts of the cam-groove b<1>, b<2> cross at a point where they have different radii, a slot q in the outer groove permitting the passage of the rod c when the follower is in the corresponding part of the inner groove.
