Abstract
423,013. Valves. BRITISH CONTINENTAL MOTORS, Ltd., 150, St. Vincent Street, Glasgow.-(Continental Motors Corporation ; 12801, Jefferson Avenue East, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) June 19, 1934, No. 18083. [Class 7 (vi)] In an engine having inlet and exhaust ports controlled by a sleeve valve having a combined reciprocating and oscillating motion, means are provided co-operating with the sleeve valve for ending the intake period before the sleeve valve closes the inlet port, and before the valve attains its maximum reciprocating motion. The invention is shown applied to a two - stroke compressionignition engine having inlet and exhaust ports 32, 33 controlled by a sleeve valve 16, the beginning and end of the inlet period being timed by co-operation of the engine piston with the inlet ports 34 in the sleeve. Further, the arrangement is such that the inlet period is begun and ended when the sleeve valve has its maximum oscillating and minimum reciprocating movement.
