Abstract

179,406. Sucharitakul, N. S. April 14, 1921. Valves; valve-gear.-In an engine having coaxial inlet and exhaust valves in the cylinder head, the exhaust valve c seats against a ring b<1> recessed into the top of the cylinder, and is actuated by two cams e<2> on an overhead shaft e, the inlet valve d seating on the exhaust valve and being actuated by a cam e'. The inlet pipe f is slidably fitted in the exhaust-valve stem, being slotted at f<1> to fit over the cam shaft. The exhaust valve is closed by a spring c<2>, and the inlet valve by a weaker spring d<2>. In a modification, the inlet pipe f is replaced by a passage formed in the cylinder head and registering with a port in the side of the exhaust-valve stem. In another form, Fig. 3, the inlet pipe f is formed with a bend, above which is placed the cam shaft, the inlet-valve stem and one of the tappet rods e<5> for the exhaust valve passing through the pipe.
