1,268,310. Printing apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 23 Oct., 1970 [8 Nov., 1969], No. 50574/70. Heading B6C. Dampening liquid which is to be applied to the plate cylinder 3 of a rotary offset lithographic printing press is sprayed by a plurality of nozzles 16 into a chamber bounded by three rollers 8, 13, 14, with rolling contacts between the roller 8 and each of the others, and by a shield 19. The liquid may be applied by air-spray nozzles aimed at the roller 8, and be passed by the roller 8 to further rollers of a dampening, or combined inking and dampening, apparatus. Preferably the rollers 13 and 14 are axially reciprocated.
