Abstract

1,210,738. Rolling. MANNESMANNMEER A.G. 13 Sept., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 43555/68. Heading B3M. Roll changing arrangement, suitable for a tube rolling mill, includes rolls 14 each of which is supported by a bush 6 on a central axle, 1 the axle being axially withdrawable to permit removal of the roll vertically. The bush is formed at its right hand end with radial projections which engage in corresponding recesses in a driving sleeve 5. To remove the upper roll, a bolt 3, which passes through the axle 1 to fasten the axle to the driving sleeve 5, is loosened. This loosening of the bolt first causes the roll and bush 6 to move to the right, until an extension 26 of the sleeve abuts the adjacent roll bearing 37, and then withdraws the bolt. The axle can then be removed, leaving the roll and bush supported, at the left hand side, on a projection 25<SP>1</SP> of the roll bearing 37, and on the right hand side, on the lower extension 26. The roll is free to be lifted vertically from the mill. The projection 25<SP>1</SP> can be pivoted out of the path of the lower roll to permit removal of the lower roll in a similar manner.
