Abstract

1,192,615. Rotary-piston machines. O. VOSER. June 14, 1967 [June 14, 1966], No.27350/67. Heading F1F. A rotary-piston I. C, engine has working chambers between a stator 1 and a piston, or rotor, 2 that revolves about its own axis and nutates relative to the stator, the mutually-opposing surfaces of the rotor and stator being shaped basically as shown in Figs. 3 and 5 with n+1 lobes, or edges, 2a, 2b, 2c and n lobes, or edges, respectively. A hollow shaft 5 for the rotor is carried by bearings 6, 8a on a hub 7 and spindle 8, which are coupled to each other by splines, the spindle 8 being fixed to a rotary body 9 that is coaxial with a bearing bush for a rotary shaft 16 attached to the hub, and said bush being upon a non rotary hollow member 27. An output gear 13 is fixed to the body 9. To control the rotary motion of the piston an internally-toothed gear 15 on an annular member 14 attached to the shaft 5 meshes with a gear 23 rotatively and eccentrically mounted on the hub 7, and a bevel gear 25 upon the gear 23 meshes with a bevel gear 26 on the member 27. The member 14 engages with a bearing bush 17 on the shaft 16. A shaft 18 is coupled to an extension 7a of the hub 7 by splines and is carried by a bearing bush 19 in the member 27, a pulley 20 upon said shaft being used to drive either a fan or a fuel feed-pump (not shown). A cam 21 controls a spark-plug 22. It is indicated that the engine can be adapted to operate as a pump, motor or compressor, and that two rotors may co-act with a single stator. Alternatively, a single rotor may co-act with two stators. The geometry of the lobed surfaces of the rotor and stator is described in detail with reference to Fig. 1 (not shown).
