Abstract

1398079 Rotary positive displacement pumps DANFOSS AS 18 Oct 1971 [17 Oct 1970] 48253/71 Heading F1F A fuel-oil gear-pump has internally-meshing gears 8, 9 in a casing 3 comprising a body 4 fixed to the rotor 2 of an electric motor having a stator 1, the gear 8 being rotatable in an eccentric bore within a ring 5 of the casing, and the gearwheel 9 being secured to a stationary shaft 12 by a pin 11. The oil enters the working chambers 10 through an opening 19, a chamber 18 defined by fixed end-walls 13, 14 and a tubular wall 15, and an opening 20 in a casing end-plate 6, the oil being discharged from said chambers through a passage 21, annular groove 22 and bore 23. Due to centrifugal action an oil ring is formed in the chamber 18, air entrained with the incoming oil being surrounded by this ring. Whenever the oilring thickness is reduced so as to partially uncover the opening 20 some of the air in the chamber 18 is drawn through this opening together with some of the oil. The casing 3 may be stationary and the oil ring formed by a driven rotary member in the chamber 18.
