Abstract
1336478 Rotary positive-displacement pumps IMPROVED MACHINERY Inc 27 May 1971 [2 Sept 1970] 17560/71 Heading F1F A worm-and-worm-wheel-type pump for paperpulp slurry comprises a helically-grooved rotor 22 meshing with a lobed disc 36 fixed to a rotary shaft 46, which is coupled to a shaft 26 attached to the rotor by gearing including a bevel gear 56. The shaft 26 is driven by an external motor and the shaft 46 also carries a feed screw 66, which is situated beneath a slurry inlet 18. The rotor ejects the slurry through a conduit 20. The disc abuts sealing means 39. In a modification, Fig. 5, the lobes 40a of the disc are oblique relative to its body 38a and mesh with the rotor grooves in the plane containing rotor axis. In another modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the disc is similar to that shown in Fig. 5 but in a reversed position. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the disc is identical to that shown in Figs. 2 and 4 but lying in the plane containing the rotor axis rather than on the high-pressure side of the said plane as in Fig.2.
