Abstract

1,271,063. Crank mechanism. HOOK & TUCKER Ltd. 15 Jan., 1971 [21 Jan., 1970], No. 2948/70. Heading F2K. [Also in Division F1] An adjustable crank mechanism to vary the throw of a piston 11 of a pump comprises a crank-pin 17, connected to the piston by linkage 12-16, mounted on a plate 24 having on its other side a pin 25 which extends through a slot 26 of a gear 27 into a slot 30 in a gear 31. The gears 27, 31 have the same number of teeth and are the same size and when the gear 27 is driven by a motor 33 the crank mill give a constant throw while the angular positions of the gears 27, 31 remains fixed. To vary the throw rotation of a shaft 53 with through planetary gearing 44, 45 rotate the gear 46 relative to the gear 42, which is held stationary by the gear 27 and the stopped motor 33, thus rotating the gear 31 relative to the gear 27 and by engagement of the pin 25 in the slot 30 wil move the crank-pin 17 to alter the throw. During driving of the crank rotation of the gear 27 through gears 36, 42 and planetary gears 44, 45 will cause a gear 46 to rotate the gear 31 in the same direction at the same speed.
