Abstract
1,055,117. Rotary pumps and motors. GERMANE CORPORATION. July 22, 1965 [Nov. 18, 1964], No.31362/65. Heading F1F. A rotary pump or motor, comprising a stationary internally-toothed ring member 12, Fig. 1, secured between casing sections 10, 14 and cooperable with an eccentrically disposed externallytoothed star member 20 having one less tooth, which orbits with respect to the ring member and rotates about its own axis at a slower speed than the orbital movement, includes a valve member 60 connected by a short shaft 64 to rotate with the star member and an intermediate shaft 52 having splined connections at its ends constituting universal joints to connect it to the star member and a driven or drive shaft 36 so that at one end the shaft 52 rotates and orbits in common with the star member and at its other end rotates in common with the shaft 36. Fluid connections 74, 76 connected by annular channels 82, 84 and passages 86, 88, Fig. 6 (not shown), in the valve member with crescent-shaped recesses 70, 72 in the face of the valve member adjacent the star member 20 supply and exhaust pressure fluid depending on direction of rotation of the star member and whether the device is operating as a pump or motor. The valve member is indexed with reference to the star member so that the increasing volume cells between the toothed members are supplied with pressure fluid. With six teeth on the star member, when operating as a motor, the driven shaft 36 rotates once for every six orbits of the star member and when operating as a pump relatively slow speed imparted to shaft 36 results in relatively rapid orbiting of the star member with resulting high fluid delivery rate.
