Abstract

1,147,606. Rotary pumps and motors. H.N. WHITE, JR. H.C. WHITE and H. N. WHITE. Feb. 24, 1966 [Feb. 24, 1965], No; 52866/65. Heading F1F. A rotary hydraulic pump (or motor) comprises an internally-toothed stator 53, Fig. 1, fixedly mounted within a casing 50 and an externallytoothed rotor 57 with one less tooth connected by a operating member 95 splined at either end to a drive shaft (or driven shaft) 90 so that the rotor besides rotating about its own axis once, also orbits about the axis of the stator six times to vary the volume of chambers A..... G, there being six teeth on the rotor. The rotor and stator are abutted on one side by a plate 62 closing the chambers through which the operating member 95 passes and on the other side by a plate 64 having a plurality of circumferentially-spaced passages 81, Fig. 3, equal in number to the number of teeth on the stator, viz seven, which communicate the chambers A..... G with an inlet port 83 and outlet port 84 extending arcuately around a valve member 70 rotatably mounted on a pin 86 supported in an end cover 75 of the casing and rotatable by means of an extension 99 of the operating member 95 so that the valve member rotates once for each orbit of the rotor. In order that the drive between the shaft extension and the valve member be effective dimensions for the pin and the end of the extension are chosen such that the following equation is satisfied:- where R 1 is the radius of the pin 86, R 2 the radius of the end of the extension 99, e the eccentric throw of the extension 99 with respect to the pin 86 and k 1 , k 2 coefficients of friction between the pin and extension and the holes which they engage.
