Abstract
1,082,079. Rotary-piston pumps, motors and fluid-flow meters. GERMANE CORPORATION. Oct. 7, 1965 [jan.22, 1965], No. 42683/65. Heading F1F. A rotary-piston pump, motor or fluid-flow meter comprises a stationary internally-toothed ring 6 meshing with an eccentric externallytoothed piston or so-called star member 14, which has at least one tooth less than said ring and is rotatable in a planetary manner, working spaces or cells 22 being appropriately connected to either a fluid-inlet passage 44 or a fluid-outlet passage 46 by radial passages 38 in the piston and ports 34, 36 in a spool-shaped valve-member 28 that is lodged in a bore 26 at the centre of the piston. The ports 34, 36 are separated from one another by a partition 32 in the middle of the valvemember and disposed alternately relative to one another in a circumferential direction so that each of the passages 38 can be brought into register with only one of these ports at any instant. The valve-member is rendered non-rotatable, while being free to move orbitally with the piston, by a stationary block or anchor 48, which is coupled to the valve-member by a shaft 60 and mutually-perpendicular transverse pins 52, 58 engaging with slots 64, 68 at the ends of the shaft. The block 48 is attached to a disc 68 at one end of a casing section 2 so that its angular position can be fixed by a screw 74 engaging with an arcuate slot (72), Fig. 2 (not shown), in said disc. Rotation of the disc 68 in the appropriate direction effects reversal of the pumping or motoring action of the piston. A rotatable driving or power-output shaft 20 is connected to the piston by mutuallyperpendicular transverse pins 30, 86 engaging with slots 96, 92 at the ends of a further shaft 88. The axially-innermost end of the shaft 20 is hollow and provided with ports 98 to effect communication between the valve-member 28 and the passage 46. When the device functions as a flowmeter the shaft 20 may be omitted.
