Abstract

1388368 Rotary positive displacement machines BENWILCO Inc 24 July 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 35256/73 Heading F1F A pump or compressor comprises a cylindrical rotor 22 rotated by a shaft 23 in a cylindrical cavity in a housing 6 having inlet and outlet ports 46, 47, pumping chambers 41, 42 being defined by a sinuous annular channel 38 in the rotor, an annular wall 17 of the housing projecting into an annular groove 33 in the rotor, and vanes 51, 52 pivoted in the housing and located in gaps in wall 17, each vane being tapered and slidably engaging both channel side walls 39, 40 at its free end 58, Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown). The rotor may be formed in two parts joined by screws 37.
