1,020,880. Rotary pumps and motors. W. REINERS and G. WIGGERMANN, [trading as REINERS UND WIGGERMANN]. Aug. 18, 1962 [Aug. 18, 1961], No. 31991/65. Divided out of 1,020,252. Heading F1F. A gear pump, or motor, includes chambers A, B (the only figure, not shown) defined by end walls of a housing and an epicyclic gear-train comprising a rotatable sun-wheel 22 attached to a driving shaft 3, a rotatable internallytoothed annulus 24 concentric therewith, and pairs of diametrally-opposed planet-wheels 24 therebetween which have mountings adapted to render their axes of rotation radially movable relative to shaft 3 and thereby effect changes in the overall rate and direction of flow of fluid through the pump. Each of said chambers communicates with an inlet duct, or an outlet duct, in the housing; and in operation, fluid is displaced by the meshing gear-teeth from one chamber to another, the rate of flow effected by each set of meshing teeth being determined by the extent to which the teeth penetrate the corresponding tooth-spaces. The nett rate of flow is dependent upon the difference in the radial distances of the pairs of planet-wheels from shaft 3.
