Abstract

1,036,758. Rotary pumps. G. SPEGGIORIN. Sept. 10, 1963 [Oct. 13, 1962; June 28, 1963], No. 35613/63. Heading F1F. [Also in Division F2] A rotary pump used as an hydraulic clutch (see Division F2) comprises a driving shaft 1 carrying a hub 3 having radial slots in which vanes 5 are slidable into engagement with the eccentric bore of a pump body 4 fast for rotation with a driven shaft 2. The vanes 5 are biased radially outwards by liquid pressure fed back through a duct 41 from the pump output passage 10 to their inner edges. Pressureoperated ball check valves 13-16 in the pump body 4 control the inlet of oil from a surrounding housing 7 and its egress to the pump output passage 10. In one direction of rotation of the driving shaft 1, oil is drawn in through the check valve 13 to the pump and passes through the check valve 16 to the pump output 10, the pressure in passages 5, 8 in the pump and in the pump output closing the check valves 14, 15. In the other direction of rotation of the driving shaft 1, oil is drawn in through the check valve 15 and passes through the check valve 14 to the pump output 10, the check valves 13, 16 now being closed. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), three parallel pump hubs driven through planetary gearing are mounted in the pump body.
