Abstract

1,187,904. Valve gear. TATRA, NARODNI PODNIK. Oct.2, 1968 [Oct.3, 1967], No.46694/68. Heading F1B. In order to reduce the effects of thermal expansion on the valve clearances of an internal combustion engine, a rocker shaft pedestal 2 is secured to the cylinder head 1 of the engine by bolts 7, 8, 9 so as to provide a clearance Z between the head 1 and the bottom of the pedestal 2 during running of the engine. The bolts 7, 8, 9 extend nearby to the bottom of the head 1 and have threaded and unthreaded portions X, Y respectively, the latter having a clearance with an enlarged portion of the respective mounting hole 3, 4, 5. The upper ends of the bolts 7, 8, 9 have shoulders 10, 11, 12 upon which the pedestal 2 is seated and secured by nuts 15, 14, 13 respectively.
