[Class 12 (i)] The main crankshaft bearings 5 of an internal. combustion engine are fixedly held in the apertured transverse webs of the crank case by tightening bolts 6 passing through as shown keyhole slots 3d in the webs, formed during casting of the case. The bolts may also secure a sump 7.
