Abstract

117,932. Russell, A. M. Aug. 3, 1917. Chucks.-A chuck for holding shells D and the like while being bored or machined, has an inner sleeve B upon which the shell D rests, and which has slots engaging pivoted dogs C, so that when owing to the contact of the tool with the article D, it is momentarily arrested, the sleeve B is also arrested, and by its relative movement with the main body A of the chuck, causes the dogs C to take up a more radial position, and grip the article D. The dogs C are housed in recesses in the chuck A, and are pivoted on screws c<1>. They have serrated inner edges to engage the work.
