Abstract

458,928. Chucks. MARBAIX, G. E.. Vincent House, Vincent Square, Westminster, June 29, 1935, No. 18679. [Class 83 (iii)] In a bevel-closing chuck having jaws composed of arcuate sections 6 having internal cylindrical surfaces 6B and external tapered surfaces 6A engaging a bevelled screw-cap 1, the jaws are held in position simply by the bevelled cap and the end surface 12 of the machine spindle 3 and are held together by loose rings &c. 9 lying in circumferential grooves 8 in the jaws. An internal groove 10, preferably of double width, receives a double spring ring 11 to open the jaws on release of the cap 1. Holes 14 in the cap receive a tommy bar, and a cylindrical surface 2A centres the cap on the spindle. The rings may be split rings.
